Hello Parents and Guardians,

Here is a look at what we will be doing in the classroom next week:

Language Arts:

Spalding - We will jump in with a review of manuscript and cursive handwriting. We will also practice both written and oral phonogram reviews this week. If you have not already done so please send your student's blue Spalding notebook to school with him/her as we will start recording rule pages during week 2.

Grammar - We will start our Language Arts journals, practice some creative writing and review synonyms and antonyms this week.

Literature - We will begin reading one of my favorite books The Little House on the Prairie on Monday! Please be sure to send your student to school with his or her copy, we will be reading the first two chapters this week.

Math:

We are starting the week with some math games and will go directly into place value instruction later in the week.

History:

We will be starting our spatial reasoning and maps unit by learning about the oceans and continents. We will also be starting a fun activity by creating our own global addresses.

Science:

We will begin our unit on the scientific method by learning about hypotheses and predictions, there will be some fun hands-on activities to display these important terms.

Quizzes and Tests:

*Please note that all testing this week is for diagnostic purposes and not for grades, Miss Austin and I will make the students aware of this.

Thursday - Grammar Pretest

Friday - None
