Dear 3C Parents,

Here are the updates for next week!  I am looking forward to another productive and enjoyable week in 3C.

Best,

Ms. Caro

General Announcements:

Wednesday, February 3rd will be our mid-year benchmark test. We will be looking at your scholar's progression in reading and math since the beginning of the year. There is no studying necessary and this will not go in the grade book. The third grade team asks that you ensure your student gets a good night's rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and comes to school with a healthy snack for the day.

The first book report of the quarter is due Monday, February 1st.

Please sign your scholar's permission slip for the field trip! I have selected the parents for the field trip.  The school does ask that chaperones also pay for admission along with your student.

We are completely out of tissues in 3C!  Last week we went through 3 boxes.  If you could send in some tissues with your sniffling scholars that would be fantastic!  Additionally, we can always use more disinfectant wipes so we can prevent the spread of germs.  Thank you so much for everything you have brought in so far this year- it is greatly appreciated! :)

Language Arts:
We will have 20 words on our Spalding list due to Galileo testing. The Trumpet of the Swan continues as we learn some really beautiful lessons about friendship from Louis and Sam. In writing we continue our look at Norse Mythology taking a look at some challenging names! Grammar is a review of diagramming and classifying imperative and declarative sentences. We will also begin our new poem for February, The Children's Hour. As this is not in the Harp and Laurel Wreath I will be sending home a copy. In the case of a lost copy of the poem students will be asked to copy the poem in class to have a reference for poem practice.

Math:
We will wrap up our weight unit with an assessment on Tuesday. By the end of the week we will be exploring our capacity unit.

History:
We will finish the Vikings unit with an assessment on Friday!

Science:
Our exploration of sound continues with more activities and hands-on experiments to reinforce key concepts and vocabulary terms.

Quizzes and Tests:
