Dear Parents and Families,
It has been another wonderful week in 3C! I am so lucky to have the opportunity to
teach your children this year. I am
amazed by them everyday. Here is an
update for what is coming up in week 3 for third grade:
Assessments
Monday: Math (Please use the review in your student’s
workbook to study. You might also want
to review exercises 1-6 in their workbook).
Tuesday: Science (On the scientific method) Please see the
study guide that is coming home tonight- Friday August 21st.
Wednesday: None
Thursday: None
Friday: None
Subjects
Spalding: We are
going to continue to fill in our Spalding rule pages. There is no homework for Spalding next week,
but if your scholar needs to practice handwriting and/or phonograms please continue
to do this at home. All work in all
subjects are now to be done in cursive.
Grammar/Writing: We will begin working on summaries using
Writing with Ease. We will also be
reviewing proof reading and punctuation rules
Literature: We will
continue to read Little House on the Prairie.
Ask you scholar some questions at home.
Here are some example questions?
What happened in the chapters this week?
What part was your favorite?
What part was your least favorite?
Why?
Which character is your favorite? Why?
What do you think is going to happen next?
Which virtues have you seen the characters showing?
Poetry: Please
continue to have your scholar practice the poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy
Evening” by Robert Frost. Recitations
will be on Friday September 4th.
Math: After our quiz
on Monday we will moving into the next unit which covers adding within
100. We will begin learning bar models!
Science: On Monday we will do another fun experiment to
demonstrate the scientific method.
Tuesday is our assessment (quiz).
Then we will be jumping into our next unit- animal classification!
History: We will be
continuing our unit on Geography. We
will be discussing directions, maps, borders, and capitals.
Wish List!
Parents we are already low on tissues! If you are able, we would love some extra
tissue boxes for our sniffling noses.
Please reach out if you have any comments, questions, or concerns.
Best,
Ms. Caro
