FINAL DAYS OF 3RD GRADE!!!
I know I said I made my last post, but this will be my final one! We had an exciting morning and I wanted to share it with all of our families. We spelled out our virtue of the month, WISDOM and we celebrated with a Root Beer float and compliments party. We drank Root Beer floats and wrote out compliments to our friends. During our party we also celebrated our summer birthday's with some treats and prizes. Students received a surprise when we had an awards ceremony in class. Each student was awarded an award that ties in with an idiom.
Fun was had by all and I wanted to share their joy with you!
Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a fantastic group of scholars and families this year, we greatly appreciate it!

Quarter 4 Week 9!
It is hard to believe we are making our last blog post of the year! Although my time in 3C has been short, it has been a privilege to get to know your sweet kiddos! They have been welcoming, kind and helpful during this transition. I am grateful to all of your families for entrusting your children to Mrs. Geyer, Mrs. Bowers and myself this year.
We have been having lots of fun as we wrap up the school year. This week we enjoyed our Punic War water balloon activity, MAPS testing and took our final Singapore test of the year! We also celebrated 2 birthdays this week with fun treats! As a reminder, I have sent out an email to families of students with summer birthdays, we will be celebrating in class on Wednesday, May 24th. You are more than welcome to send in a treat, please let me know in advance if you plan to do so. Aside from all of the fun at school, it has been a week of celebration for my family. My brother graduated from high school this week, it was great to cheer on all of his accomplishments!
Congrats Tommy! Go Sun Devils!

Look in the Classroom
- Math: We will
finish our final unit on capacity this week with a small in-class
assignment in place of a quiz. We'll end the year with fun days of games
and activities to enjoy the beauty of math
- History: Our
unit on the Thirteen Colonies wraps up on Tuesday with an assessment.
We'll review on Monday with review games, and here is the Quilt link (https://quizlet.com/_3h0959) to
help scholars prepare for the fill-in-the-blank and true/false questions.
- Language
Arts: We are finishing out our year with a Spalding review. We’ll be doing
some narration and dictation exercises in Grammar and summarizing tales
from the Story of the World in Writing Class. In Literature we’re still
enjoying fairy tales and tall tales.
- Science: This week we will be finishing
our Mae Jemison essays! This will be a nice way to wrap up our astronomy

Quarter 4 Week 8
Happy Friday 3C!
Another week has flown by and we have had lots of fun learning and celebrating! We enjoyed our ice cream making party Wednesday afternoon, have been listening to fantastic science presentations, and said farewell to Mrs. Bowers for the school year. We are going to continue to have exciting activities as well as learn as much as we can before the end of the school year!
Learning all about Saturn!
Mrs. Bowers received great advice to help with her new baby!
This gift made from 3C will fit perfectly in Lily's purple nursery!
Yummy Treats and Baby Bingo with Mrs. Bowers!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful moms in our class! I hope you enjoy a relaxing weekend with your sweet children, I plan to do the same!

Look in the Classroom
- Language Arts: This week we will have a 20 word
Spalding list with our usual test on Friday. In grammar we are defining
conjunctions and diagramming them in sentences. Our individual recitation
of our Pocahontas poem will be on Monday May 15th; it is sad to
think that this is the last poem of our year together! We will continue
identifying features of fairy tales and tall tales and continue
summarizing Stories of the World.
- Science: This week we will be learning about
orienteering and the constellations. Students will get the opportunity to
do a fun hands-on activity to mimic orienteering on the football field. At
the end of the week we are going to be reading a biography about Mae
Jemison, the first female African-American astronaut. We will be writing
an essay about Jemison for our final science activity of the year.
- Math:
Due to MAP testing and our annual Singapore assessment, math instruction
this week will be kept to a minimum with a focus on review. Please review
math facts with your scholar at home, as this will prove a huge benefit
for this week!
- History:
Students will continue learning about the northern colonies, particularly
the New York colony (which was once called New Netherland), as well as the
Pennsylvania colony and its famous founder, William Penn. A study guide
for our final assessment will go home on Tuesday, and a Quizlet link is
forthcoming.

A Look Into The Classroom:
Language Arts: We will have a 20 word Spalding list this
week, due to MAP testing on Tuesday and Thursday. We’re enjoying some Fairy
Tales and Tall Tales with our much loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
finished. In grammar we are doing a close review of simple and complete

projects and share them with each other. At the end of the week we will
be learning about black holes and the life cycle of a star.
History: Students will start to examine the northern and middle
colonies, looking at the Puritan settlements and what made the colony of Rhode
Island stand out from the others. This week's homework is a fun one meant to
involve family members: students will get to learn more about why their own
families came to the new world!
Math: : We will continue and complete our unit on weight this
week; a quiz is scheduled for Thursday, so keep an eye out for a practice
packet on Wednesday evening to help students review. On Friday we will start
our final unit of the year, capacity, with an estimation activity and a lot of
water.
Upcoming Events:
Tuesday and Thursday of next week, we will have our final
MAP benchmark test of the year. These tests do not count towards students’
