A Look in the Classroom
  1. Language Arts: We are nearing the end of our adventure with Pinocchio we are all confidant that a happy ending is on the horizon. In Writing we will be creating 3-5 sentence summaries of the story of Ceres, Proserpine, and Pluto. Grammar will be a review of the 4 sentence types, the 4 verb types, and we will introduce prepositions. Our idiom for December is Better Late Than Never, and we are in the thick of our practice for the Julius Caesar selection. In Spalding we will take our monthly benchmark on Monday, we will have a 20 word spelling list.
  2. Science: This week in Science we are wrapping up the bones section of our human body unit.  We will be doing an activity to help students understand our spine.  Additionally, we will be discussing the role of ligaments, tendons, and cartilage. Finally, we will be learning about what happens when bones break and doing an activity to help the students understand this concept.
  3. History: The excitement in Rome continues! This week we will delve into two popular subjects: the Punic Wars and Julius Caesar. Students will get to try a real-life reenactment of what spurred the wars between Rome and Carthage and how Julius Caesar rose up the ranks to become an infamous figure of world history.
  4. Math: Students are moving out individualized focus on certain multiplication facts to start applying all of them in different scenarios. On Monday we will begin by multiplying three numbers, and go on to continue reviewing long division. Friday will be a review day, as a cumulative assessment is coming soon!
