Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a good week!  We certainly had a busy week with MAP testing here in 3C.  We are looking forward to another great week.  See below for details on what to expect. :)  Please reach out with any comments or questions!

Best,

Mrs. Bowers

A Look in the Classroom
  1. Language Arts: In Literature we see Louis earning his living on the east coast, meanwhile, his father journeys to Billings in order to repay his crime of trumpet theft. In Grammar we are reviewing contractions and diagramming them. We are also learning how to write direct quotations and the beginning and ends of sentences. We will have a 30 word Spalding list. Adventures of Isabel is our new poem for February and March, please look for a copy in your scholar’s homework folder!
  2. Science:  This is the final week of our sound unit.  Students will have the opportunity to review for the assessment and watch a fun video to reinforce the concepts covered during this unit.  The sound quiz will be given on Thursday.  Students can prepare for this assessment using the following quizlet link: https://quizlet.com/_31g7xo
  3. Math:  This week we will be starting a new unit: time!  We are excited to go through this unit which has so many wonderful, easy to observe real-world applications.  Students will be converting from minutes and hours to minutes and converting a large amount of minutes into hours and minutes.  We will also encounter word problems and the addition and subtraction of time.
  4. History: We have a fun treat in store for our historians this week! On Tuesday, the entire third grade will be gathering in the multi-purpose room for a special lecture on the Vikings with James Boyle. We will also have a day studying Viking gods and myths, followed by a day of preparing for a quiz on the Vikings. Study guides will go home on Friday, with the quiz being held the following Monday.
