Quarter 4 Week 6

Hello Parents!

I hope you're all well as we rapidly approach summer break. We're starting some wonderful activities on Wednesday afternoons to review our 3rd grade curriculum and fully embrace the joy and leisure of learning.

Wish List
1.    Hand Sanitizer
2. Clorox Wipes

A Look in the Classroom

1.    We will have our final monthly Spalding benchmark of the year and have a 20 word spelling list this week. We will take a bit of time to review The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and begin a short fairy tale unit to finish off the year. In Grammar we are learning how to diagram interjections and creating summaries in Writing class. For Touchpebbles on Friday we will use The Children's Book of Virtues; A letter from F. Scott Fitzgerald to his daughter to discuss the virtue of responsibility.
1.    History: Students will review for Tuesday’s quiz on the Southern Colonies with a game of BINGO, and students can also review with the following Quizlet link (https://quizlet.com/_3e535n). On Thursday we will move on to familiar territory as we begin a deeper study of the Pilgrims and their journey on the Mayflower.
1.    Math: We have finished our unit on length and will now move on to weight, once again starting with the metric system: grams, kilograms, and the like. There is no homework scheduled for Wednesday, as our spring concert will take place that night.
1.    Science:  This week we will be completing a fun activity to demonstrate the lunar cycle using Oreos!  Additionally, we will be watching some fun videos to reinforce concepts we have been learning in this unit.  On Friday (the 28th) students will be receiving a study guide that will be due on Wednesday (the 3rd).  The quiz will be on Friday.  Please use the following quizlet link to help your students prepare for this assessment: https://quizlet.com/_3dy83p.  The Science projects are due on Monday, May 8th.  We can’t wait to see these fun and creative projects.

Assessments
1.    Thursday - History Quiz: Southern Colonies
2.    Friday - Science and Spelling

Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Best,

Mrs. Bowers
