Quarter 4 Week 2

Dearest 3C Parents,

Hope you all had a wonderful week!  Here is the blog-post for the week.

Announcements

       1. Tuesday, March 28th is the Writing portion of the Az MERIT test. We strongly encourage all
scholars to get a good night's rest, eat a hearty breakfast, and bring a healthy snack to school. We
will not be assigning homework on Monday evening in order to allow for a more restful evening.

A Look in the Classroom

  1. Language Arts: We will be using this week to review Spalding words from earlier in the year; due to our review and AZMERIT testing this week, you will not see any spelling homework coming home. We are reviewing how to write direct quotations at the beginning and end of sentences. We will also take some time to review an Emily Dickinson poem and discuss the symbolism of different colors. Our poetry recitation will take place in small groups on Friday.
  2. Math: We will resume work in our math workbooks as we begin learning about building solids and measuring volume. On Friday, there will be an in-class review for a short quiz on area, perimeter, and volume, which will take place the following Monday
  3. History: Next week we will start closer studies of specific tribes, beginning with the mysteries of the Anasazi and the Mound Builders. Toward the end of the week we will learn more about these tribes' descendants and how they forged their way across the North American continent.
  4. Science: This week we will be discussing the different types of galaxies and the history of our solar system. We will be having our first astronomy quiz on Friday. There is a study guide coming home on Monday that is due Thursday. Some new information will be taught on Wednesday, so don’t worry if your scholar is unable to fill out the entire thing at the beginning of the week!
